Structure types

Six ways to build your carport.

The structure decides how it is supported, how much space it uses and what it looks like. Every type uses the same 280GSM shade fabric and galvanized steel frame. We confirm the best fit on your free measure.

01

Standard 4-Pole Stand-Alone

4 poles · freestanding

The classic. Two posts on each side, standing anywhere on your property. Scales from one car to large multi-car roofs.

Strengths
Most stable and economical. Handles bigger roofs for 2 to 6 cars.
Keep in mind
Poles sit in the parking area, so it needs a little more floor space.
02

2-Pole Cantilever

2 poles · one side

Posts on one side only, with the roof reaching out over the cars. A clean, modern look with nothing in the way when you park.

Strengths
Open, easy parking and a minimal look. Saves space on the pole side.
Keep in mind
All the load sits on one side, so it needs heavier engineering and deeper foundations.
03

Back-to-Back Cantilever

2 centre poles · both sides

Two cantilevers joined back to back. Cars park on both sides of the centre poles under roofs that overhang each way.

Strengths
Very efficient for open areas, complexes and business parking, 4 to 6 cars.
Keep in mind
Needs a wide, open, level area.
04

Wall-Mounted

2 poles · wall on the other side

One side is fixed to your house, garage or boundary wall. Only two poles stand on the outer side.

Strengths
Lower cost and space-saving. Extends from an existing building.
Keep in mind
Not freestanding. The wall must be strong enough, and we check it on site.
05

Dome Shape

Usually 4 poles · curved roof

A curved, barrel-style roof frame instead of a flat one. A premium look that sheds water easily.

Strengths
Striking finish, good water run-off and well suited to exposed sites once engineered for the wind.
Keep in mind
Curved framing is more involved to build than a flat roof.
06

6-Bay Carport

6 to 8 poles, or cantilever

A size, not a shape. A carport for 6 cars, built using any of the structures above.

Strengths
Usually built as a Standard 4-Pole (6 to 8 poles in total) or as a Back-to-Back Cantilever. Good for estates, complexes and businesses.
Keep in mind
Quoted per site. We confirm the best layout on the free measure.
